Boney M. was not only THE disco cult band of the 70’s and 80’s but remains a living legend of the entire disco era. Boney M’s disco-orientated pop dominated the European charts with a string of hits well remembered to this day. Featuring the stunning vocals of Liz Mitchell, The original and only lead singer of Boney M,
their songs proved irresistible to radio, dance floor and partygoers.
Originally founded in Germany by writer and producer Frank Farian. On the first output, "Baby Do You Wanna Bump", Farian performed all vocals himself. Soon, however, TV stations started to demand 'Boney M.' to perform the track on TV shows, which made Farian form an actual group. After some initial changes, Frank Farian arrived at the lineup with which the group had their biggest successes with Liz Mitchell as lead singer. The group's major break came in 1978 with "Rivers Of Babylon", the second highest selling single of all time in the UK.
The band has sold more than 80 million records and is known for massive international hits such as: “Daddy Cool,” “Ma Baker,” “Rasputin,” “Mary’s Boy Child – Oh My Lord,” and “Rivers of Babylon.” Their first album was titled “Take the Heat off Me,” released in 1976, and their last album, “Eye Dance,”dropped in 1985.
